Coding includes innovative courses that teach computer programming skills through video game design. These engaging classes are perfect for students in grades 3-8 who have great imaginations, whether they enjoy figuring out how things work or simply love technology. In Coding, students will learn basic coding and programming, problem solving, logic, and even physics.
We offer several Coding courses for aspiring programmers, including:
• Grades 3-5: Game Design 101 and 102
• Grades 6-8: Game Design 201 and 202
In these six-week game design courses, students spend about one hour each week learning how to create characters, animations, sounds and special effects using kid-friendly Tynker™ technology. They develop mini-stories and build the skills to design a final video game that they can play with friends. Students experiment and troubleshoot their programming projects, and they develop important problem solving, logic and computational skills while collaborating with others.
Coding aligns to state and national standards in technology, and uses an advanced technology platform with complex games, backgrounds and graphics.
